Western Cape Climbing will start construction of an all new Climbing Wall and Training Centre on UCT Lower Campus in January 2026. The training centre and spray wall is already fully funded, but we need your assistance with Phase 2, the boulder gym with modern comp climbing holds, to help make this facility truly state-of-the-art.
This small, world-class bouldering gym, with the latest competition holds, will help us improve performance and also help us grow the climbing community; at local school, student, lecturer and community level.

Interest in sport climbing has exploded in Cape Town!
Whether you are a newbie who’d like to experience the fun and challenge of climbing or a seasoned climber; whether your favoured spot is out on the rock or crushing boulder problems indoors, you’re in great company. We’d like to invite you to allow your skills and passion for the sport to bring you into contention at a provincial level.
Western Cape Climbing, the home of sport climbing in the Western Cape, is the official provincial sporting federation with the responsibility to manage and develop the sport of climbing in the Western Cape. The climbing disciplines include bouldering, lead climbing and speed climbing. Take part in any one or all three!
